OK Go is an American alternative rock band known as much for their inventive, visually stunning music videos as for their catchy, genre-blending sound. Formed in Chicago in 1998, the band consists of Damian Kulash (vocals, guitar), Tim Nordwind (bass), Dan Konopka (drums), and Andy Ross (guitar, keyboards). They rose to fame in the mid-2000s with their treadmill-choreographed video for “Here It Goes Again.”

Blending indie rock, power pop, and a flair for experimentation, OK Go has carved out a unique space in modern music, consistently pushing creative boundaries both sonically and visually. OK Go’s discography showcases their evolution from catchy power-pop beginnings to a more experimental and art-rock-driven sound. Their self-titled debut album OK Go (2002) introduced energetic, hook-laden tracks like “Get Over It.” Their follow-up, Oh No (2005), featured the viral hit “Here It Goes Again,” blending punchy rock with tight melodies.

With Of the Blue Colour of the Sky (2010), the band embraced a more electronic and atmospheric style, drawing inspiration from Prince and funk-infused rhythms. Hungry Ghosts (2014) pushed further into synth-pop and digital textures, highlighting their studio creativity. OK Go didn’t release an album in 11 years… until now! Their brand new album, And the Adjacent Possible, was released on April 11th.

OK Go is currently touring the U.S on the And the Adjacent Possible Tour - they stopped by Brooklyn Steel on May 28th, 2025. This is the band’s first tour since 2019. Photographer here at Punk Pulse Media, Lara Ziccardi, headed into the city to catch the show!

I first started listening to OK Go late 2019 / early 2020. I remember promising myself that when they went on tour next, I would be there! I had no idea it would’ve been about 6 years later.

To open the And the Adjacent Possible Tour, the first song to open the set was “This Too Shall Pass.” And not only was this a banger song to start the set with, but the first song had confetti! (Spoiler: there was much more to come). The next two songs to follow were “Get Over It” followed by (one of my favorites) “I Won’t Let You Down.”

Once my time in the photo pit was done, I made my way up to the balcony during “Take Me With You” and “A Good, Good Day At Last.” I quickly escaped to the bathroom and I had the fastest pee of my life when I heard OK Go start to play “White Knuckles” - which is one of my favorite songs of theirs while “Writing’s On The Wall” followed.

I thought it was so fun that the crowd ranged from people my age, Millennials, and even Gen-X. I didn’t realize how long OK Go has been a band and loved seeing people from a bunch of various ages come to the show. Everyone that I’ve interacted with was also nice! It was a nice change of pace having a chill crowd at a show.

“Shooting the Moon” was released on the deluxe edition of Of the Blue Colour of the Sky (Extra Nice Edition. It’s one of the most unique songs I’ve heard from an alt rock band because the instrumentals are hand bells. I was beyond impressed to see all the members of OK Go perform “Shooting the Moon." I used to be in a hand chimes choir back when I was in middle school and it was something different that was cool to see!

Usually at larger stadium shows, the artist or lead singer moves to a smaller stage that’s opposing the side of the main stage, also known as the “B Stage.” I never expected a B Stage at a show or venue I photograph at. For “This Is How It Ends,” Damian Kulash, made his way from the main stage of Brooklyn Steel, through the crowd, and stood on some sort of platform or box in the middle of the venue. From the hand chimes to the makeshift B stage, OK Go has put together such a creative set.

“Needing/Getting” is the first OK Go song that was introduced to me back in December of 2019. I love having little full circle moments at shows that I’m covering where I’m so thankful and lucky that I get to photograph shows, capture moments, and write all about them!

Up next is, honestly a recent favorite of mine, “Obsession” with “Better Than This” and “Do What You Want” to follow. The vibes were brought down to a chill moment with “Oh Lately It's So Quiet” off of Oh No with the hit off their new record, “Love” to follow.

“Upside Down & Inside Out” is another one of the first few songs that was introduced to me, specifically the first song off of their 2014 release, Hungry Ghosts. I love this song for its more electronic and digital pop textures. I have songs that I categorize as “songs that scratch and itch in my brain” and this one falls into that category. “Here It Goes Again” was the last song before the encore, with more confetti! This song was my favorite of the night - it’s not only just a fun song to stream, its a great song to hear live.

The last three songs of the night for our encore were “A Stone Only Rolls Downhill,” “Bye Bye Baby,” and “The One Moment.” I didn’t get to crowd surf my way out of the crowd this time, unlike some shows (that you can read more about here: Beach Bunny, State Champs, The Story So Far) but I didn’t mind one bit!

OK Go had such a fun set with some of the most unique aspects I’ve ever seen. They out on such a great performance and brought special moments that were memorable, creative, and really showed the band's fun personality. Not only did they sound amazing live, the crowd had a great vibe. In total, I want to say there was about six sessions of confetti. OK Go puts on a great show and the crowd has the energy to match!
