Sound Check: Summer Vibes 2025

By: Abiageal Filon (featuring music picked the Punk Pulse Photo Team)

With the summer coming to a close, the team at Punk Pulse Media decided to commemorate the season with a brand new type of coverage: Sound Check - where our team deep dives into their playlists and gives you recommendations to listen to. Our first theme is "Summer Vibes" - a few members of the team had a lot to share about their favorite tracks this summer.

"Seein' Stars" - Turnstile

Chelsea, based in New Jersey, has been loving “Seein’ Stars” by Turnstile. Here’s what they had to say: “With the release of Turnstile’s newest album ‘NEVER ENOUGH,’ the band is making it known that it is officially Turnstile summer. All of the songs are hits, however this is one of the songs that stood out to me the most - the song feels like a late-night party with your friends, looking at the beautiful night sky, and just reminiscing. Also, the guitar solo is absolutely killer.”

"Face" - The Wldlfe

Next, Abby, based in Philadelphia, PA, shared her love for indie pop band The Wldlfe and their newest release. She wrote, “‘Face’ is a bonus track on the deluxe version of The Wldlfe’s most recent album, ‘Heaven is a place, 2024.’ This song is about the person of your dreams and their beautiful face always being on your mind until the end of time. ‘Face’ is one of The Wldlfe’s most popular tracks at the moment, hitting 100k streams on July 14 shortly after its June 27 release date. It is very much deserved as this track is a top contender for ‘song of the summer’ in my book!”

"Call Me If U Want Me" - Floracene

“Call Me If U Want Me” by Floracene gets the spotlight next, with Kirstyn, based in New Jersey, saying these kind words about the track: “This song screams summer to me! It’s an ear worm and has the perfect melody to have you feeling those summer vibes. Any indie/alternative lovers will definitely appreciate this song! It’s the kind of song you want to play while driving with the windows down headed to the beach.”

"Telephone" - Waterparks

Amanda, in Los Angelas, California for the summer, shared two of her favorite summer-sounding tracks–first, “Telephone” by Waterparks. She said, “Listening to this song always takes me back to the summer of 2022 when I went to the Sad Summer Festival for the first time with my best friend! Its high energy and sparkly notes make for the perfect mood booster, and is the perfect anthem for a sweet summer fling!”

"These Are the Days" - Inhaler

Second, Amanda continues, “These Are The Days” by Inhaler got some love. Amanda wrote, “Perfect for a picturesque 'head out the car window with your hair blowing in the wind' scene, this song feels like it's been pulled straight out of a coming of age movie. This track was released during the spring of my freshman year of college, and will always remind me of making new friends, finding my place, and becoming the person I always wanted to be!”

"Sticky" - The Maine

Finally, Lara (IG: @larazic) lovingly shared an unmistakably perfect summer track, “Sticky” by The Maine. She wrote, “Not only is summer hot (and most often times sticky), ‘Sticky’ by The Maine has been a new addition to my summer playlist. It's fun, energetic, great to dance to, and gets stuck in your head quite easily. Whenever I think of this song, I always remember The Maine performing at Sad Summer Festival at The Stone Pony in Asbury, NJ. Lead vocalist John O'Callaghan made his way into the crowd to sing the last chorus of ‘Sticky’ (and even crowd surfed his way back to stage). It's one of my favorite moments at a show!” Read more about Sad Summer 2024 here!

"Dont Sweat It" - Daisy Grenade

“I want to be Daisy Grenade when I grow up. Their most recent single, “Don’t Sweat It” was released on June 20th. While I love their angsty rage songs, I love the direction they decided to take with this one - more of a pop turn. It’s about not letting the little worries bother you and to just have fun. For my single people, it’s about those summer flings you have that are only meant last for the summer. My favorite lyric has to go to, “Told you that little red bikini was the only thing, the only strings that you could get attached to” (mostly because my red bikini is my favorite). Move aside, Sabrina Carpenter (no shade), Daisy Grenade delivered the song of the summer! Get girls who can do both - female rage and summer fun!”

Even though summer will be coming to a close, we can carry the vibes with us all year long by loving these tracks and not forgetting how they make us feel!
