The Maine At Franklin Music Hall 4/17/26

I Love You But I Choose The Maine In Philadelphia

Franklin Music Hall is known for being one of those bigger venues that has a special intimate feeling to it, but nothing could’ve prepared you for the energy that packed those doors for The Maine on April 17th. The line for the doors was full of green to support The Maine’s newest album “Joy Next Door’ that released on April 10th. From themed friendship bracelets, to strangers meeting in line and sharing a love for the bands, it was nothing short of heartwarming. Seeing The Maine and standing in that crowd is nostalgic and familiar, you can't help but feel the intense good vibes from everyone in the room

Kicking off the night with a stacked line up was Broadside, Nightly, and Philly’s own Grayscale. These openers could not have been a more perfect fit to get the energy right. There is nothing like playing to a hometown crowd. From start to finish for all three bands, the crowd never stopped moving and singing along. Even if you came in not knowing one of the bands, you definitely left a fan by the time they were leaving the stage.

With all the energy built up, the lights cut for one final time and the crowd went wild as The Maine took the stage. “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” rang through the venue before fading into the first track of the night “Thoughts I Have While Lying In Bed.” From the front of the pit to the back of the venue, the crowd was echoing off the walls. The stage chemistry and the charisma from the very beginning proved why The Maine is such a huge success. The sheer musical talent and unmatched vocals draw you in and the stage design won't let you take your eyes away. John O’Callaghan is one of the best frontmen in the genre. His chaotic way of working the crowd keeps everyone smiling, while his vocals can't be replicated. It is clear why this band still dominates after so many years.

The setlist included songs for everyone to sing along to. Whether you recently joined the fanbase, or have been a long time dedicated supporter, there was something for everyone. If you have not listened to their newest album “Joy Next Door’ it is highly recommended you get to that ASAP. Hearing those tracks live is another level of emotion. Every song felt carefully chosen to match that Philadelphia energy. Speaking of Philadelphia energy, a very special guest made an appearance at the show and had the crowd going crazy. Kenny Vasoli of The Starting Line took the stage to cover “The Best Of Me”. It felt like history in the making watching these two artists share a stage and everyone in the audience let them know how excited they were to see it.

Overall, there are not enough words to say how talented and incredible to watch The Maine is, you have to see them for yourself to understand. If you came to the show as a long time fan, you left proud. If you came to the show without knowledge of the band, I can assure you that you have had them on repeat ever since. The production was eye catching, the vocals were spot on, and the energy never left. If you have a chance to catch them on their current tour, we hope you don't miss it!
