The Summer Set: Meet Me At The Record Tour
The Summer Set hit Philadelphia on a live Friday night. Kicking off the night and getting the party started was Good Boy Daisy, People R Ugly, and Senses. The bill was packed with immense talent and someone of the best live sound the Theatre of Living Arts has had in a long time. The energy was high and the stage was set perfectly for the headliner.
As the house lights dropped, Dancing Queen came through the speakers forcing a nostalgic sing along that could be heard through the entire venue. As The Summer Set took the stage, the crowd roared and welcomed the opening song “ For The First Time”. This song comes off the bands newest record “Meet Me At The Record Store”. The seasoned veterans had no problem getting the crowd off their feet and dancing along.
Though many fans have been with the band since the beginning, the entire crowd kept the singing going as the band played their newest music. The chemistry on stage is instantly contagious. Whether you came as a long time fan or someone who has never heard their music, there was no denying that you were leaving with a new found appreciation for the showmanship on the stage.
The Summer Set blended a perfect mix of old and new in their set and the audience was audibly pleased with each hit that played through the venue. As the performance moved toward its final stretch, the band leaned back into their most energetic material. During "Hit and Run" off their newest album, John Gomez showcased his vocal talent on stage while completing the last bridge. The Summer Set continues to impress with their musical talent from all members of the band.
Years of touring have clearly refined their stage presence and musical chemistry, allowing them to navigate the set with confidence and ease. The stage setting was incredible to watch with fun lighting and visuals that played into the tour theme. They brought out the singer of Senses to sing on " Teenagers". Judging by the crowd’s enthusiastic response throughout the night, Philadelphia remains a city ready to welcome The Summer Set back whenever they return.
