The Home Team - The Crucible of Life Tour, Philadelphia, PA

Just two years after performing at the Theatre of Living Arts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, The Home Team headlined the same venue while touring their latest album, The Crucible of Life. The Home Team, based in Seattle, Washington, are an alternative rock band that is quickly taking the alternative music scene by storm. They have been known to perform alongside popular rock artists such as The Used, Neck Deep, and Don Broco. They currently have over 200k followers on Tiktok and over 1.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

On Wednesday, November 19th, The Home Team returned to Theatre of Living Arts, almost exactly two years after performing at the same venue while touring with another popular alternative artist, Don Broco. This time, they were headlining, with supporting acts Makari and Arrows in Action. The energy that radiated through the crowd for all three acts was astounding; sometimes when you go to concerts, the audience doesn’t give the opening acts the love and respect they deserve, but the audience at this show was equally as excited for the opening acts as they were for The Home Team. This alone gave me a massive amount of respect for their fanbase.

Makari

First on the bill was Makari, an alternative rock band from Orlando, Florida. They were the perfect band to get the energy started for the night; the lead singer, Andy Cizek, had powerful vocals that combined very well with the instrumentals coming from the rest of the band.

Arrows in Action

Next was Arrows in Action, another alternative band from Florida. I briefly heard of Arrows in Action before going to this show, so it was really cool getting to experience them live after hearing about them for so long. They put on an amazing performance and had the crowd singing every word to their songs.

The Home Team

Lastly, it was time for The Home Team to take the stage, starting with their hit, “Turn You Off,” which got the crowd radiating with energy (and also included a few crowdsurfers). I felt very sentimental getting to witness The Home Team live for a second time, as my introduction to this band was actually through their last performance with Don Broco two years back. Getting to watch this band grow and get the love that they deserve is truly heartwarming.

The lead vocalist, Brian Butcher, delivered his vocals beautifully throughout the entire night, and there were even points throughout the night that he brought out Andy Cizek (the lead singer of Makari) to help sing backup vocals, including The Home Team’s hit single “Somebody Else’s Face.” I fully believe that this venue sold out for the night, and there’s a chance that they may have even oversold; from every point of the venue, from upstairs to downstairs, and from the front to the back of the venue, there were audience members dancing and singing along to every song they [The Home Team] performed. It’s always nice getting to see musicians get the recognition and love that they deserve, and The Home Team, as well as the other bands on the lineup, are certainly not an exception to this.

The Home Team is one of those bands that you never want to miss. If you want to catch up with what they’re doing, follow them on Instagram to see what they do next!
